Ferry Pass, FL
North of Pensacola on Interstate 10 in Escambia County, Ferry Pass is a bustling city right on Escambia Bay. The history of this city can be traced back to the 1820s when Charles Beeler started a Ferry service to get travelers across the waters. Though he would leave shortly thereafter, the service was continued well into the mid-1800s. However, the American Civil War would halt the service, where it would continue to be inactive for an extended period of time. By 1910, the community wanted to start the service again. By 1915, it was reinstated, and brought economic growth with it, making Ferry Pass into a much more prosperous area. The service would be ended permanently in 1926, at which time the town started to embrace a more fishing and maritime based economy.
Today, Ferry Pass is home to The University of West Florida, the only university in the area. There are a number of businesses that call Ferry Pass home, and the community is tight knit and willing to support their locally owned companies. Ferry Pass is a beautiful place to call home, as it continues to grow and prosper well into the 2020s and beyond.
