Can you believe we are so close to finishing the year? Can you believe that the 2021 Hurricane Season will officially be over on November 30th?! That’s right! We have officially made it through this year’s stormy weather and we’re ready to embrace our end of the year holidays! What’s even better is that there aren’t any more wind and rain advisories! Thank heavens.
Christmas cookies anyone? Woah there, before we get into the craziness that happens in December, we would like to give you a few things to think about while preparing to celebrate the upcoming holidays with ease of mind.
Holiday Travel will be big this year.
We have been itching to travel for a while now! Since most of the country is emerging out of the funk that was Covid-19, there will be massive amounts of travelers in all airports this season. As we already saw during the Thanksgiving break, there’s a lot less hesitation and more confidence when it comes to traveling.
Readying the house for guests!
Whether you are the host of your family’s Christmas, Hanukkah, or New Year’s festivities, remember to take a quick look around your home to see if it is ready for a large gathering. We know it is exhausting to set up your home for each storm that heads your way. In addition to setting up and taking down Halloween decorations to then put out your favorite holiday decorations, it is always worth it to be mindful of how accessible your home will be to avoid any potential injuries.
Large Gatherings and Liability
With so much festivity heading our way, we always need to keep track of how many people will be in and out of the home. If you’re expecting the entire extended family this year, complete with infants, teens, and friends, make sure your home has enough space to maneuver around, in addition to safe pathways. As stated before, readying the house is very important and without proper preparation, a domino effect of accidents may result in impromptu insurance claims.
Reviewing and updating your current homeowners policy!
Since your home is not being bombarded by unpredictable weather, it is a good time to take the time to talk to your agent and see what type of changes need to be made with your home and flood insurance. It is important to review your existing policy regularly, and perhaps you may find that you can use more or in some instances, less coverage.
New Neighbors?
With so many new faces moving to Florida for the heat, beaches, and laid-back lifestyle, it’s a good idea to get to know your new neighbors. If they just moved to the state, let them know about the upcoming 2022 hurricane season, what to expect and to check out. Even though we had some close calls this season in the summer months, having an idea what to prepare for next season is a worthwhile conversation. Friendliness brings harmony, and who doesn’t want a good neighbor around?
