Ahh yes, it’s the beginning of Hurricane season and what types of floods can we expect to see? All types. Whether the water covers the roads, swales, curbsides, or front lawns, it is important to understand how flooding happens and how insurance plays a role in this! While the myth is that some houses along the coast are more prone to flooding, all houses are prone to flooding. With this in mind, we would like to give you some information on flood insurance, who needs it, and why you should have it! Our President and Expert, Whit Harris is here to educate you on the topic!
With that said, here is a quick recap for you.
Everyone who is in a flood zone needs flood insurance. Some flood zones are preferred and not preferred. What does this mean?
Preferred zone: You are not required to purchase flood insurance if you hold a mortgage
Non-Preferred zone: You are required to purchase flood insurance. You may live on the coast where there is more water activity.

- Flooding not only affects single family units, but entire communities
