It’s already November! Halloween has passed and we are coming in close to the holiday season. One thing that we can’t wait to talk about is the end of hurricane season on November 30! With so many named storms that came and went, we would like some peace and quiet. From tropical storm Cristobal in June and Eta last week, we will welcome some cooler temperatures as we roll into the holiday season.
What better way to spend the holidays with close friends and family? November ends with Thanksgiving and right around the corner is December, with the most festive holiday of all, Christmas!
As every celebration has looked a little different this year, one thing for sure is that traveling is a big deal. With 2020 being one strange year for health and travel, many families are still going to catch up by catching a plane or driving to a relative’s house for some food and fun. In the holiday season, Florida has no travel restrictions or quarantine rules. However, Floridians who will be traveling out of state may find different rules as every state and county operate differently. Here is a quick rundown of both car and air travel for the holiday season.
If you are traveling by air:
First and foremost, safety is a top priority. Flying has always been the fastest way to travel for the holiday season. A positive is that each airline has airplanes equipped with HEPA filters. With an eye on COVID19, these filters will provide clean air with 99% of the airborne microbes filtered out of the main cabin. Pair this with your mask and it is very unlikely to be exposed. Why many people are still concerned with air travel is due to being in close contact with others in a confined space. If you are traveling by air this holiday season, keep safe by keeping your hands clean and following CDC guidelines inside airports and the planes themselves.
If you are traveling by car:
Car trips are considered to be the safest form of transportation. It is less likely that a family will be exposed to anything as the chances of being in a public place are less likely. Like planes, cars also provide filtered air conditioning and can circulate this air as well. It may take more time but a nice road trip can be fun for the family. Car travel provides a nice change from the hustle and bustle of other public transportation methods.
Keep up to date on your insurance:
In both cases, it is wise to review your insurance policies. If traveling by car, double check your auto insurance and its coverage. Sometimes your coverage can vary from state to state, especially when there are different weather conditions. For general purposes, review your life and health insurance policies as well. There is a lot of uncertainty out there due to the pandemic and being properly covered relieves a lot of worries. If you are staying at home and inviting guests over for the holidays, please double check your homeowners policy and make any changes with your agent.
Above all, traveling for the holiday season shouldn’t be stressful. With so many factors at play this year, from weather to health concerns, it can be. We hope that this information will help as you finalize your holiday plans. We cannot wait to finish up this hurricane season and dive into the holiday spirit!
